How the turtle got its shell

A long time ago the was an old mother turtle named Sally. She was about to lay eggs, so she slowly crawled out of the cool water and onto the hot sand. Sally used her 2 big front flipper to create a giant hole. She laid back and laid 101 squishy and white round eggs. Sally covered the hole with sand. As sally covered the the hole with sand, she started to feel a little dry so she quickly crawled back into the wet water.

A few months later when the sun was setting, the mother eggs started to hatch. One by one, the baby turtles crawled out of the sand and into the night water. But there was only 1 egg left and it hatched yet. At midnight, the last egg hatched. The little turtle crawled out of the sand. He went to find his home. The little turtle couldn't find his home, he was lost in the dark. He was  scared and nervous. He had to find shelter. The little turtle saw a little hermit crab crawl into a shell. That gave him an idea. He looked all over the place for the right size shell. Luckily He found the right size shell. The little turtle used all his might to get into the shell and couldn't get out.

This is the story of how to turtle got its shell

E.O.T.C. Diary Wednesday 16 March

My Biggest challenge was cooking and eating damper

Today is Long bay day! My group Waiake, does bush survival first. I learnt about the basic survival tools such as a compass, string and a whistle. I also learnt how to hunt for food using a piece of string, how to put up shelter and what to do when you're lost in the bush. Our second activity was the practice hike which was only an hour and a half. For the last activity our group (Waiake) did camp craft. We had to work as a team to put up the tents, the people who finished quickly got to take a quick nap in their tents. After that, we got put into little groups of 4. (My group: Junha, Flecth, Mitchell and I) Our little group of 4 started off making a cup of warm Milo. Next we cooked damper on top of the flames. After cooking the damper, we ate it. Eating damper was a challenge because I have NEVER cooked or eaten damper. I had my first bite and it was YUM!
That was the end of today
